OBJECTS

The Commonwealth Academy of Education, Science and Arts is registered in the United Kingdom as a professional body with the following powers and objects.

 

  1. To bring together those professionals who offer consultancy services in the field of Education, Sciences, Arts, Management and related disciplines to improve standards of professional performance;
  2. To encourage the training and development of professionals and leaders in education, sciences, management, arts and related disciplines;
  3. To carryout research on education, sciences, management, arts and related disciplines which should result in contribution to knowledge;
  4. To provide opportunities for dialogue among professionals and leaders in education, sciences, management, arts and related disciplines;
  5. To increase the understanding of roles of professionals and leaders in education, sciences, management, arts and related disciplines in their related specialist areas;
  6. To provide opportunities for professionals and leaders in education, sciences, management, arts and related disciplines to improve their technical and consulting skills through specialized training and career development programmes;
  7. To gain public recognition for the Institute’s certification and to enhance the reputation of professionals and leaders in education, sciences, management, arts and related disciplines;
  8. To assure the public that members possess the ethical standards and the professional competence and independence required for membership and are, therefore, qualified to practice;
  9. To help ensure standards which will engender public confidence in Education, Sciences, Arts, Management and related professions;
  10. To collaborate with local and international institutions for the promotion of standards in education, sciences, arts, management and related professions, manpower training and research;
  11. To test, examine or assess applicants and grant certificates or diplomas to indicate achievement of knowledge and experience in related disciplines;
  12. To admit members after assessment to various grades as associates, members, fellows or companions to indicate achievements in rank and seniority in management, leadership and administration;
  13. To carry on any other trade or business whatsoever which can, in the opinion of the Company, be advantageously carried on by the Company in connection with or ancillary to any of the general business of the Company or is calculated directly to benefit the Company or enhance the value of or render profitable any of the Company’s property or rights or is required by any customers of or persons dealing with the Company;
  14. To purchase or by any other means acquire and take options over any property whatever, and any rights or privileges of any kind over or in respect of any property;
  15. To improve, manage, construct, repair, develop, exchange, let on lease or otherwise, mortgage, charge, sell, dispose of, turn to account, grant licenses, options, rights and privileges in respect of, or otherwise deal with all or any part of the property and rights of the Company;
  16. To invest and deal with the monies of the Company not immediately required in such manner as may from time to time be determined and to hold or otherwise deal with any investments made;
  17. To lend and advance money or give credit on such terms as may seem expedient and with or without security to customers and others, to enter into guarantees, contracts of indemnity and suretyships of all kinds to receive money on deposit or loan upon such terms as the Company may approve and to secure or guarantee the payment of any sums of money or the performance of any obligation by any company, firm or person included any holding company, subsidiary or fellow subsidiary company in any manner;
  18. To borrow and raise money in such manner as the Company shall think fit and to secure the repayment of any money borrowed, raised or owing by mortgage, charge, standard security, lien or other security upon the whole or any part of the Company’s property or assets (whether present or future) and also by a similar mortgage, charge, standard security, lien or security to secure and guarantee the performance by the Company of any obligation or liability it may undertake or which may become binding on it;
  19. To draw, make, accept, endorse, discount, negotiate, execute and issue cheques, bills of exchange, promissory notes, bills of lading, warrants, debentures, and other negotiable or transferable instruments;
  20. To enter into any arrangements with any government or authority (supreme, municipal, local, or otherwise) that may seem conducive to the attainment of the Company’s objects or any of them, and to obtain from any such government or authority any charters, decrees, rights, privileges or concessions which the Company may think desirable and to carry out, exercise, and comply with any such charters, decrees, rights, privileges and concessions;
  21. To pay all or any expenses incurred in connection with the promotion, formation and incorporation of the Company, or to contract with any person, firm or company to pay the same;
  22. To give or award pensions, annuities, gratuities, and superannuation or other allowances or benefits or charitable aid and generally to provide advantages, facilities and services for any persons who are or have been directors of, or who are to have been employed by, or who are serving or have served the Company, and to the wives, widows, children and other relatives and dependents of such persons; to make payments towards insurance; and to set up, establish, support and maintain superannuation and other funds or schemes (whether contributory or non-contributory) for the benefit of any such persons and of their wives, widows, children and other relatives and dependents; and
  23. To do all or any of the things or matters aforesaid in any part of the world and either as principals, agents, contractors or otherwise, and by or through agents, brokers, subcontractors or otherwise and either alone or in conjunction with others.

 

A sister organization has been registered in Nigeria under the sane name i.e Commonwealth Academy of Education, Science and Arts.

The body registered in Nigeria is to serve the African region.

 

The abridged powers (objects) of the body are as follows:

  1. To engage in the promotion of education and science.
  2. To engage in the training, certification and grading of professionals in the field of science and education.
  3. To engage practitioners to share knowledge.
  4. To promote e-learning.
  5. To deal in publishing books, articles, journals and occasional papers.
  6. To promote open learning, distance learning, online learning and work-based learning.
  7. To promote a learning community designed to promote philosophy and learning.
  8. To access, clarify and grade members to denote seniority based on levels of learning and experience.
  9. To engage in stakeholder conferences, seminars, workshops and round-table trainings to encourage participation, learning and contribution in the affairs of the academy.
  10. To train leaders, managers, proprietors and practitioners in the field of education and science.
  11. To deal in inventions and innovations in science and education.
  12. To grant certificates and diplomas to indicate seniority and levels of knowledge and experience in science and education.
  13. To promote developmental educational and human capital development projects and to receive endowments, gifts, contributions or donations from individuals, government and any organization in the execution of the projects.
  14. To set up educational institutions, schools and colleges to promote or to collaborate with individuals and organizations to do same in order to promote science and education at all levels including primary education, secondary education, technical education and vocational education.
  15. To offer consultancy services, conduct human capacity trainings, promote leadership and management development for organizations, government departments and individuals.
  16. To engage in entrepreneurship development through trading, educational establishment, training of school proprietors and research on problems relating to small and medium business enterprises.
  17. To do all such other things as may be considered incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objects or any of them.
